Sports justice: disciplinary sanctions must be amenable to judicial review that is consistent with EU law
The Court held that EU law requires disciplinary sanctions imposed by sports associations, where they affect the exercise of an economic activity protected by EU law, to be subject to effective judicial review. In particular, the competent national court must be able to disapply the sanction where necessary to ensure compliance with EU law.

The online publication of the names of professional athletes who have infringed anti-doping rules may be compatible with EU law
The Court held that Member States may, in principle, provide for the online publication of the identity of professional athletes who have infringed anti-doping rules, together with the sanction and the reasons for it. However, such publication must comply with the GDPR and requires a prior balancing of the interests involved and an assessment of proportionality.

Competition: the no-poach agreement concluded by Portuguese football clubs during the Covid-19 pandemic can potentially be compatible with EU law
The case concerned an agreement between Portuguese professional football clubs not to recruit players who had unilaterally terminated their contracts because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Court held that such an agreement does not necessarily constitute a restriction of competition by object and that its compatibility with Article 101 TFEU must be assessed in its specific context.
